Fri 13 - Sat 14. October 2017 - A 2-Day Practical Course

This course is organised in cooperation with the Belgian Equine Practitioners Society (BEPS)

A special discount is available for veterinarians planning to attend the BEPS congress (a limited number). Contact the office on info@vetpd.com to learn more.

Please be aware that there are only a limited number of BEVA spaces available.

This course was developed for experienced equine practitioners with a good working knowledge in the field of lameness investigations.   The highly-experienced lameness specialists will discuss how to approach multi-limb and multi-site lamenesses, the intermittently lame horse, subjective vs. objective gait analysis, reliability and repeatability of nerve/joint blocks, indications, usefulness & limitations of MRI, CT, scintigraphy, radiography and ultrasound, etc..  The speakers will furthermore share valuable tips, tricks and insights on how they approach specific challenging clinical scenarios.

An objective gait analysis system, Equinosis Q (Lameness Locator), will be extensively used on clinical cases as part of the 7 hours of practical sessions, allowing attendees to perfect their lameness skills.  Each attendee will rotate through the following practical stations under the supervision of the specialists:

  • Subjective Lameness Examination Techniques
  • Introduction to Objective Gait Analysis with Equinosis Q (Lameness Locator)
  • Advanced Nerve & Joint Block Techniques (incl. ultrasound-guidance) on equine specimens
  • 2 ½ hrs of working up clinical cases via subjective and objective gait analysis with Equinosis Q (Lameness Locator)
  • Ultrasound of the Pastern, Fetlock, Tendon Sheath, MC/MT or Stifle Joint (region  chosen by attendees)

The course fee includes lunches at a restaurant, coffee/tea breaks, a wine & cheese reception, extensive electronic course notes and a certificate of attendance. Attendees can choose to only attend the lectures (= Lectures Only) on this course or can register for the entire course (= Lectures & Practical Sessions).
