Webinar Series – Avian / Exotic Animal Medicine & Soft Tissue Surgery (Recorded September 2020)

Interest in soft tissue surgery in avian and exotic animals has increased over the last decade due to widespread use of isoflurane anesthesia, the introduction of microsurgical techniques and improvement of microsurgical and bipolar radio-surgical instrumentation. This course has been designed for veterinarians in practice, working with avian cases, wishing to gain a higher level of expertise in their approach to avian respiratory disease, psittacine neonatology and post mortem techniques. The course also includes an insight into PPDS as well as discussions of raptor tendon injuries and their repair. In preparation of the wetlab, the second day starts with an introductory lecture on avian and exotic animal soft tissue surgery and use of radio surgery, followed by an extensive 4-hour wet lab, where all delegates will undertake a variety of techniques required when confronted with injured avian and exotic animal species. This is an invaluable opportunity for delegates to gain real hands-on practical experience under the supervision of specialists, such that they have confidence to undertake all procedures in their own practices.
