PANEL DISCUSSION DESCRIPTION

The diagnosis and treatment of orthopedic conditions in sport horses is an increasingly complex task for equine veterinarians. The international panel of elite practitioners will discuss their approaches to the diagnosis, treatment/management and prevention of lameness to help their equine patients train and compete safely and successfully.

This topic will consist of the following two Panel Discussions:

“Prevention & Management of Sport Horse Lameness”

In the second session, the international panel of sports horse veterinarians will discuss tools and strategies to help maintain soundness in the sport horse.  Our focus will be on injury prevention and the management of orthopedic conditions over the course of a competition season. We will furthermore discuss approaches for the examination and treatment of horses in preparation for competition and during competition.

Sport Horse Lameness Examination and Therapies – Top Tips & Tricks”
In this session, our panel will discuss how to identify and diagnosis both overt and subtle lameness conditions that might only become apparent under certain circumstances.  Topics will include subjective and objective lameness evaluation, diagnostic strategies, therapeutic options and decision making.
