CONTENT DESCRIPTION
This module will be a lively discussion on the use of CT for investigating fetlock region pathology and pain.
The renowned speakers will explore the application of CT including for identifying and assessing subchondral bone lesions in both sport and race horses, the assessment and range of cartilage pathology identifiable with CT, findings in the fetlock region in clinically normal juveniles, soft tissue injuries and associated artefacts.
A range of clinical cases will be presented and discussed following the interactive lecture on this important region for all athletic horses.
Annamaria is an Associate Professor at the University of Veterinary Medicine Budapest, where she is leading the orthopaedic diagnostics and diagnostic imaging department. Formerly, Annamaria was a senior clinician at the Animal Health Trust in Newmarket, UK. Annamaria is a Diplomate of the European and American Colleges of Veterinary Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation and holds an RCVS Fellowship Diploma and a PhD for her research on epidemiology of endurance rides. Her special interests lie in diagnosing complicated lameness and poor performance cases and in advanced orthopaedic imaging, including MRI and standing CT. Annamaria has published over 40 scientific papers in peer-reviewed journals and is regularly invited to speak at national and international meetings. Annamaria is an FEI level 4 endurance official and treating veterinarian and has also worked as a team veterinarian at European and World Championships.
Vanessa is Head of Diagnostic Imaging at Rossdales Equine Diagnostic Centre. She rejoined the practice in June 2019 after spending the previous ten months as Senior Lecturer and Clinician responsible for the Large Animal Diagnostic Service at the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Bern, Switzerland. She became a Clinical Director in 2021.
Vanessa graduated in 2011 from the University of Bern and subsequently undertook internships at Rossdales and at a large equine hospital in Florida, USA before returning to Rossdales as an orthopaedic assistant in 2013. She has a keen interest in all diagnostic imaging modalities and is passionate about their use in the diagnosis of musculoskeletal disorders in particular.
Vanessa successfully completed a residency in Veterinary Diagnostic Imaging with the European College (ECVDI) under the guidance of veterinary specialists at Rossdales Equine Diagnostic Centre and Dick White Specialist Referrals. She became a Diplomate of ECVDI in February 2020 and was awarded RCVS recognised specialist status in March 2020.
