Brian is a native of Akron, Ohio, USA and received his veterinary degree from The Ohio State University in Columbus, Ohio. After a 1-year internship at The Animal Medical Center in New York City and a 3-year ophthalmology residency at Auburn University in Alabama, he returned to The Ohio State University as an Assistant Professor of Ophthalmology in 1992. In October of 1995, Brian joined the faculty at North Carolina State University as an Associate Professor of Ophthalmology and is now a Professor of Ophthalmology and head of clinical ophthalmology at NC State University. He is a Diplomate of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists and a Diplomate of the American Board of Toxicology. Brian is the immediate past president of the American College of Veterinary Ophthalmologists. His clinical interests include treatment of equine recurrent uveitis, corneal disease, and intraocular surgery. Brian's main research interest is ocular immunology, imaging, and drug delivery. He is the author of over 100 peer-reviewed publications, 30 book chapters, and 3 books, including two editions of 'Equine Ophthalmology'. He is also the co-founder of the International Equine Ophthalmology Consortium and serves as a member of its governing board. 

Claudia acts a consultant in ophthalmology at Rossdales Equine Hospital. She graduated from Bristol University in 1995, after which she spent 9 years in general practice in large animal, mixed, and small animal practices. Whilst in first opinion practice she gained the RCVS Certificate in Veterinary Ophthalmology and undertook a scholarship at Cambridge University.

In 2004, Claudia joined the Animal Health Trust (AHT) and successfully gained the European Diploma in Veterinary Ophthalmology in 2007. She was head of ophthalmology at the AHT between 2009-2015.

Claudia works with many charities worldwide, assisting with welfare and zoological ophthalmology cases. She has been an active committee member/chair, published several book chapters, lectured both nationally and internationally on veterinary ophthalmology. She was awarded the Fellowship of the Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons in 2018. In March 2017 Claudia joined Langford Vets, part of the University of Bristol, as Head of Ophthalmology.

Thomas Launois is a specialized equine surgeon working in a group of twenty-two equine vets. He is Secretary General of l’Association des Vétérinaires Equin Français (AVEF) and a member of BEVA and the AAEP as well as the International Equine Ophthalmology Consortium (IEOC). Dr. Launois has published numerous articles in journals, congress papers and books, including an Equine Ophthalmology book in French, in collaboration with Brian Gilger.

Dr. Tammy Miller Michau, a native of Pennsylvania, received her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (D.V.M.) and combined masters (Cardiovascular Physiology and Pharmacology) degrees from The Ohio State University. Following veterinary school, she then completed a rotating small animal medicine and surgery internship at Colorado State University. Dr. Miller completed her specialty training in a 3-year comparative ophthalmology residency and masters (MSpVM) program at North Carolina State University in 2003. Following the completion of her residency, she joined the faculty at NCSU as an assistant professor of ophthalmology before joining BluePearl Veterinary Partners in 2008 in their Florida location. Teaching and education has always been a priority, and she has been awarded the Bayer Faculty Teaching Award while at NCSU and Educator of the Year at the Western Veterinary Conference. At BluePearl, she was instrumental in the development of the House Officer Program, including didactics within BluePearl University, scientific program support, educational and training outcomes measures, and the online BluePearl journal library. In 2019, she joined Mars Veterinary Health as the Vice President of Medical Affairs Operations and moved to the Pacific Northwest. She enjoys traveling, riding her horse Wodan (a Dutch Warmblood) in dressage and spending time with her friends and 2 Shih Tzu, Benjamin Wade and Theodore Roosevelt.
