PANEL DISCUSSION DESCRIPTION

Castrations are one of the most commonly performed elective surgeries in equine practice, frequently being performed outside of a controlled surgical suite, and with minimal or no support i.e. ‘in the field’.

Complications are not uncommon, and can range from mild to life-threatening. Join our highly experienced, leading panel of experts who will share their experiences, debate the different anaesthetic and surgical approaches, and discuss their approaches to management and prevention of complications.

Regula graduated from Zurich, Switzerland in 1990 where she also gained her DrMedVet. In 1997 she was awarded Diplomate of the ECVAA and gained her PhD in 1999. She is a EBVS European Specialist in Veterinary Anaesthesia and Analgesia and is currently Professor of Veterinary Anesthesiology in the Department of Clinical Diagnostics and Services, Vetsuisse Faculty, at the University of Zurich. Regula’s main interests are veterinary anesthesiology and pain therapy.
